Duties and Responsibilities
1. Initiate, develop and/or review data processing standards, methods and strategies in

 A Bachelor’s degree with honours in Statistics; or mathematics with a bias in
statistical computing; or computer science/IT.
 A master’s degree in a relevant field is essential.
 Professional certification in the field of applications development will be an added
advantage.

 Leadership and team building skills;
 Minimum of 4 years working experience in similar assignments at a senior level
position in a busy and reputable organization is required;

About this job

Our Client is the biggest mobile phone retailer in East Africa that is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidate for the above vacancy;

Objective:

This is primarily a Sales / Commercial role focused on the management and growth of product sales through the company’s retail network.   The position will have responsibility for the P&L of the retail business. The division will receive key support functions including Finance, Administration, Human Resources and IT from the company Group Central Services. The person will be expected to manage and control these support services it receives from the company Group.

The person will be expected to leverage the scale and advantages that the company’s retail network provides to build a profitable portfolio of products and services that can be sold through the company retail network. The person will be expected to manage the company’s retail diversification strategy, managing various business stream ‘verticals’ across the division.

The person will be expected to oversee the completion of a re-structuring of the retail division such that the required sales focus and revenue accountability is provided for the new structure of the division.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Modify and develop that overall Retail sales strategy in conjunction with the Board.
    Develop and control the annual business plan including annual / quarterly / monthly sales plan + targets for each product line
    Assess market potential of each product lines and implement retail and  sales structures  accordingly
    Ensure profitability is maintained on all product lines and channels to market
    Supervise and lead the retail management team across all the regions
    Ensure the implementation of trade marketing activities in both the retail environments
    Closely work with The company’s wholesale division to support their trade activities
    Develop specific strategies for certain product lines / territories / sales period to drive sales
    Develop and manage handset growth strategy – retail and wholesale
    Ensure the necessary banking control and procedures specific to the Mobile Money business are adhered to and meet required audit standards.Identify new market and product / service opportunities to be introduced into the retail division
    Oversee high level technical and product development for new services / products to be introduced
    Ensure operational and marketing support is provided for new products / services and their eventual integration into the core STU business

    Full management control of the retail division assuming operational control
    Build a cohesive retail management team
    With The company Group Central services Finance department, ensure necessary controls on cash and stock are in place so that budgeted cash flows and targets are met
    Management of costs and increasing operational efficiencies.
    Ensure all necessary processes and procedures to manage the business are formalized and put in practice throughout the division
    Creating positive working relationships with our handset suppliers and trade partners (eg. Zuku TV), acting as a liason between them and the Board.

Qualifications:

    A strong entrepreneurial disposition with a high level of commercial astuteness.
    This is a primarily a Sales / Commercial position that requires an experienced  person with minimum 5 years general management experience in retail preferably in the mobile, telco or FMCG industry.
    The candidate will require a set of key competencies in the areas of sales, retail and business development
    University graduate in any discipline, preferably in marketing or business studies. A very numbers-driven, result-oriented approach is essential.
    Problem-solving and decision-making skills plus the ability to think laterally whilst offering creative solutions.
    Flexibility and the ability to manage change.
    Strong interpersonal skills - an extrovert personality with a genuine affinity to interact with higher levels of management and different cultures.
